“The record you didn’t know you needed is what I am listening to in the other room.”

Faded concert posters line the dark walls. Wisps of incense smoke curl through the golden light. Start Me Up – The Rolling Stones

“Start Me Up”
The Rolling Stones
FROM Tattoo You (1981)
It is impossible for me to accurately state just how intense my dislike of this song is. Comparing it to the heat of a billion suns is inadequate. listing the multitude of things I would rather do than listen to this would take volumes, they have not developed a measurement system that is capable of this.

But just how committed am I to my Bin Diving posts, and them being an accurate reflection of my listening to full albums? I can answer that by saying that it is so important for me to be authentic and honest, I actually listened to this so that when I include Tattoo You on my list Monday, it will be true that it was a full album listen.

I actually like quite a bit from this album and many songs show up on playlists and such, but prior to my Bin Diving logging, I would always skip straight past this and on to “Hang Fire” which is considerably more palatable. I tend to usually stop listening prior to “Waiting on a Friend” as well, but my feelings towards that are not nearly as extreme.

For reference, since 2006 I have logged 231 listens of songs from Tattoo You, and today’s listen marks the single instance of a logged “Start Me Up”

So, don’t bother clicking through to listen to the song, to be honest the only thing I can imagine being more unbearable than needing to listen, is to have to watch this horrible fucking video along with that experience.
