“The record you didn’t know you needed is what I am listening to in the other room.”

Christmas Songs

/

Even though I believe Christmas is a fake holiday made up by a religious cult that has now, for most people, become a gross display of massive debt inducing consumerism and the cause of unnecessary stress and personal pressures, I do enjoy the opportunity to listen to a few of my favorite Christmas songs.

These are some of them, all very different, but special in their own way.

The Kinks kick things off with “Father Christmas”

Pretenders from Isle of View and a gorgeous version of “2000 Miles”

Billy Joel with “She’s Right On Time” from The Nylon Curtain.

Of course, the greatest Christmas song of all time is “Christmas Card From a Hooker in Minneapolis” by Tom Waits. I like this version from Austin City Limits that I stumbled across tonight.
