1001 Albums Day 111 – Green River

Green River – Creedence Clearwater Revival

Another really solid release from Creedence, these guys were on a tear. So many great songs here from arguably America’s best band.

I think this might be one of my favorite songs of theirs – it’s just a quintessential CCR song in every way.

To learn more about the 1001 Albums Project, I first wrote about it here.

  1. I remember getting this 45 when I was around 11-12 years old. It was probably my first CCR record. . . And I never stopped. It’s too bad all the personalities and stress got to the guys. John hasn’t passed put together subsequent bands that nail the songs pretty well in concerts, but those were the days.

    1. We saw John a number of years ago at I think it was Farm Aid and it was so great – he loves playing these songs and the audience loves to hear them.

I remember when he got sued for writing a song that sounded too much like a CCR song, that he also wrote. Am glad he decided to play these songs again after not doing so for so long – they are truly a part of our American history.
