“The record you didn’t know you needed is what I am listening to in the other room.”

Faded concert posters line the dark walls. Wisps of incense smoke curl through the golden light. The mood is intimate, analog, and deeply atmospheric with rich sepia and brown tones against near-black shadows. | photorealistic | landscape

1001 Albums

/

I stumbled across a site that touts the 1001 albums you must hear before you die. I am intrigued so I signed up for the challenge. Each day I am assigned an album to listen to and the following day I get prompted for a review, and then given another album.

The list comes from a book apparently but I want to go in to it with as little information as possible. I have no idea what albums are on the list or what the criteria is for why they were chosen.

It seems like an interesting exercise and perhaps it will lead to a new discovery, or at the very least a chance to revisit some old friends. Some new stuff in my mixes would be nice.

I am a little scared that there will be some things that I just don’t enjoy but I promise to give everything a chance. Life is too short to listen to bad music though so I won’t force myself to listen to everything to completion.

I thought I would do a thing where I pick a song from the album and share it here. This would be in addition to the RSOTD so look out for those.

Let’s see what happens!
