Poker Face

Actress Natasha Lyonne from the series Poker Face

With the network tv shows on hiatus we ran through some of the other shows we were watching. We finished Paradise a bit ago which was great and we absolutely loved this season of Hacks. We’re still working our way through A Million Little Things and Silicon Valley but we decided to add another something to our rotation.

Gina had heard about a show called Poker Face a while back and we were seeing ads for season 2 starting so we chose that. I remembered that we had a subscription to Peacock that we got as an xfinity reward so I set that up for streaming and we started watching.

I have to say that I am really enjoying it so far. The first episode really hooked us good and the other episodes we have watched were also really enjoyable. I don’t want to share too much so you can jump in fresh, but it’s a clever concept starring Natasha Lyonne who has the ability to tell if someone is lying. The overall story arc established in episode one is really interesting and sets up the crime procedural aspect of the other episodes.

It’s quirky and fun but also a bit strange and dark. I highly recommend it.

I decided a wanted to add a song to this post with Poker Face as inspiration. I decided to pass on “The Gambler” and briefly considered Jerry Garcia’s “Deal” but instead I am going with “That Was A Crazy Game of Poker” by OAR. I like this acoustic version but could have gone with any of them, such a wonderful song.

  1. Great song. I’ve seen OAR several times and this is always a crowd favorite, along with “About Mr. Brown.”

    1. yeah, I have never seen them but have listened to a bunch of live stuff. Way back I got a recording of a show from Red Rocks that was in pretty heavy rotation for a while. I agree – it’s a catchy tune and people love to sing along!
