Random Song of the Day (RSOTD) – The Killing of Georgie (Part I and II)

Close up of Rod Stewart wearing dark sunglasses.

Gina was scrolling through Facebook this evening and she asked me a question that had come through her feed:

“What is the saddest song released in your lifetime?”

Without even thinking I blurted out The Killing of Georgie.. and then it was like, where the fuck did that come from…

Remember folks, Scott’s brain is weird.

I don’t believe I have listened to or even thought of this song in decades. Released in 1976, his A Night on the Town is much better known for the hits “Tonight’s the Night (Gonna Be Alright)” and “The First Cut Is the Deepest” but man I remember this song hitting me hard way back in the day, and I guess it just stuck with me, waiting patiently, until something made it pop back up to the surface again tonight.

Glad to have this one back in my life after its absence for so many years.

Looking at the credits and holy shit, talk about some talent on this one:

Andy Newmark, David Lindley, Donald “Duck” Dunn, Leland “Lee” Sklar, Steve Cropper, Willie Weeks, Joseph “Joe” Walsh, all produced by the legendary Tom Dowd.
