I am finding that my YouTube music is getting a little stale, my mixes are playing essentially the same songs over and over again, to the point I spend more time skipping through them than I do listening. I am thinking that maybe it’s time to consider a change.
I recently trialed Tidal but wasn’t satisfied with their radio / mixes. I never cared for Apple Music much, I won’t use Spotify if I can help it, so I am running out of options.
After lamenting the loss of Rdio and Slacker, which was the ultimate combination for me for years, I realized that I haven’t looked at Deezer, and if I ever have, it’s been ages, so a Deezer trial is in progress.
So far it is interesting, they have a feature they call Flow which is essentially a mix of stuff you like and stuff you might like so discovery is a big part, which might be just what I need. There are various discover mixes and mood mixes as well. We’ll see how it goes.
Anyway, this version of “Sweet Jane” popped up this evening and even though I know the song well, I hadn’t ever heard this particular live album before Berlin (Live at St. Ann’s Warehouse) and this version hit hard. Lou isn’t one to ever play a song the same way twice.
