Random Song of the Day (RSOTD) – Dialogue Part 1 and 2

Group shot of the band Chicago 1972

I mean, how fucking great were those early Chicago albums? This particular song was always a favorite of mine, and a perfect demonstration of all the parts coming together just perfectly, that’s what made them so good. There was so much talent, each of them masters of their instruments. The horn section is just insane here and playing over that crazy sprawling Terry Kath solo, Danny with perfect time on those drums and Peter laying down some wicked bass. Of course, the vocal duel between Terry and Peter is front and center , displaying both of their fine but contrasting voices. It just doesn’t get any better than this.

As David Letterman used to say “That’s all you need right there!”

Enjoy – and yes, we can make it hap….

  1. I couldn’t love this song more – or Chicago, for that matter.

They really were the whole package of their time… lyrics, music, message.

Hopefully the art they created resonates into the future as the pinnacle of humanity’s longing at its time: to be understood, related to and a willingness to employ diplomacy with regard to different points of view.

  2. I didn’t have this album, but this is a great song. Going to pull it down later today. Thanks and have a great day.
