1001 Albums Day 69 – Born to Be with You

“The record you didn’t know you needed is what I am listening to in the other room.”

Dion is known for making some of the most lively and infectious songs of the 50’s and 60s with “Runaround Sue” and “The Wanderer” as great examples. This album isn’t anything like either of those songs. Dion himself reportedly disavowed this album, saying that the production made it sound like “funeral music”
This makes sense considering that it was produced by Phil Spector. This wasn’t the first time Phil took the life from something, and it wouldn’t be the last…
“Runaround Sue” isn’t from this album but I couldn’t in good conscience put something from it on here, when something as good as this exists.
To learn more about the 1001 Albums Project, I first wrote about it here.
