We took a group trip today to take a tour of Georgia O’Keeffe’s home and studio in Abiquiu. Her presence and influence looms large in this area, both at Ghost Ranch and in the surrounding area where she also had a home.
I was, of course, familiar with her prior to this trip but that familiarity wasn’t too deep. I intentionally didn’t do any additional reading or research so that I could learn and experience organically.
The tour was really fascinating and our guide Frank really did an amazing job of presenting the history of her home, gardens and studio in context of her personal life and the connection to her art.
It was yet another experience here that is hopefully sparking my own creativity and curiosity that seemed to have diminished during my cancer journey. I’m ready!
Georgia was very prolific and had many different artistic phases but is probably best known for her flowers.
