Faded concert posters line the dark walls. Wisps of incense smoke curl through the golden light. 1001 Albums Day 22 – Talking with the Taxman About Poetry

Billy Bragg outside on stairs playing electric guitar

I have really only heard a few songs by Billy Bragg prior to listening to this album, other than the Mermaid Avenue stuff with Wilco. I liked this a lot, it’s full of protest songs and country songs and a phenomenal cover of “The Tracks of My Tears” which is my feature.

I can hear why the Guthrie family gave him Woody’s lyrics – it’s a perfect choice.
