For a long time I used to say that “Moonlight Mile” was the quintessential Rolling Stones song, sometimes maybe “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking” but now after many hours of listening and deliberation, I say its got to be “Winter”.
I don’t know, my opinion might change again, I just know that whatever it is, it sure as fuck has guitarist Mick Taylor all over it. In my opinion, his tenure with the band produced the best music of their long and storied career – it’s my favorite era for certain.
I was going to share the original Stones version from Goat’s Head Soup but I really want you to hear this version that he did with Carla Olson. It’s 11 and a half minutes of pure instrumental bliss for you to get a little lost in – or maybe a lot lost.
Give it a go – do you have anything else better to do for the next 12 minutes?

Your thoughts?
