So, The Sensory Dispensary is apparently a thing again. It used to be a blog back in the days when people used to blog but then life, cancer, covid, and a hosting disaster led to its demise. I didn’t really miss it because for the most part I was using Twitter as a place for my stuff.
Then Elon happened and Twitter became X, and it changed. Others have written far more eloquently about the demise of Twitter than I can, but suffice it to say it became a place for trolls, misinformation, hate speech, and just general unpleasantness. My time there decreased, I blocked hundreds and hundreds of accounts, my friends there moved on and what was once a thriving community of people who I enjoyed sharing things with became a place I despised. One day I took my account private, logged out and haven’t been back.
I saw this today and it seemed fitting to include here:

I think this is fucking hilarious. Imagine buying something, turning it in to a shithole, and then lamenting that people are just putting their shit in to it. He encouraged people to post shit, he monetized the posting of shit, he posted shit, and he reshared other people’s shit. The people who posted the positive, beautiful and informative stuff got tired of it getting covered in shit and have left. Like I did.
But I still needed a place for my stuff. Random thoughts, music I like, photos I appreciate, links to interesting articles or posts by others. I still had these things, I just didn’t know what to do with them. I had given up Facebook back in 2016, I couldn’t imagine trying to rebuild a network on Bluesky and yet I still had stuff.
So here we are, a brand new Sensory Dispensary. It is intentionally simple. I didn’t want to get wrapped up in features, themes, widgets and plugins. I wanted a place for my stuff. This is a place for my stuff.
I hope you find something interesting, enjoyable, inspirational, or otherwise worth the time of your visit.
Scott
