I guess the transition of TikTok to US control has been a bit rocky. Many users have reported issues posting videos related to ICE ativities, or not being allowed to mention “Epstein” in their messages. This is all anecdotal but it seems to be widespread enough to make me wonder.
There was also a power issue at a data center that caused a cascade of failure that caused users to lose view counts and for their viewing algorithm to be reset.
CNBC is reporting that app uninstalls are up 150% this week.
Skylight, an open protocol alternative to TikTok has seen massive surge in users to reach 380k over the weekend.
I had my own thoughts about TikTok I posted on Bluesky.
I am sure that is just a coincidence that the key player in this deal is long time Trump supporter and ally Larry Ellison.
In another bizarre coincidence that I am sure is completely above board and legal, Ellison’s son David is the CEO of Paramount Skydance who skated through FCC approvals for a merger after settling a 16 Million dollar lawsuit that put money in Donald Trump’s pocket, and who also fired Stephen Colbert at Trump’s request. Paramount is also in control of CBS News and they are wasting no time in turning that in to a state run propaganda machine.
They don’t even try to hide the corruption.
