“The record you didn’t know you needed is what I am listening to in the other room.”

1001 Albums Day 6 – The Slim Shady LP

/

Tom Hanks in Big with the robot building and the captiom I Don't get It.

The Slim Shady LP – Eminem It had to happen I guess, not only is this the first album of the challenge that I wasn’t previously familiar with, it’s a genre that I don’t normally listen to. I told myself I would listen to the first minute of each song when I do these so that I can give them a chance and not one made it past the minute mark. Honestly I found it immature and juvenile and not at all musical.

As I thought about how to write about this, I thought of that scene in Big when Tom Hanks is watching them demonstrate the building toy that turns in to a robot and he raises his hand and says “I don’t get it”

This is me raising my hand. No featured song.

  1. I don’t think I’d have made it either, but I can listen to a little Beastie Boys here and there.

    1. I put on Paul’s Boutique a few times a year and play it at obscenely loud volume. There’s just something about that album that I really enjoy. Maybe it’s all the cool samples.
