“The record you didn’t know you needed is what I am listening to in the other room.”

Faded concert posters line the dark walls. Wisps of incense smoke curl through the golden light. The mood is intimate, analog, and deeply atmospheric with rich sepia and brown tones against near-black shadows. | photorealistic | landscape

Abilene – Runaway Dorothy

The band Runaway Dorothy

There are a few bands I discovered on Twitter that I likely would never have found. Runaway Dorothy is one and this is a great song from their first album The Arc. I don’t remember exactly how it happened but I ended up chatting occasionally with their singer / songwriter Dave Parnell. They did a kickstarter for the second album The Wait which was finally released in 2014, and then they promptly disappeared. Dave became Butch Parnell and I see occasional posts hinting at new music but, well, 11 years is a long time.

Twitter used to be a great place to discover and connect with these smaller bands who put out some great records. I miss it and will never forgive Elon for fucking it up so badly.
