The Daily Dose 4-2-25

I did a little housekeeping on the site this week. I added a search box and I finally got around to populating the About / Who, What, Why? Page. I had some help from the AI but it came out well.

The neuropathy that I experience from my chemo treatments has moved from just my toes to the arch and back of my foot. It’s causing some issues with balance and stability so I started some physical therapy to work on improving that. I need to train my brain to realize that I am not going to fall even though I can’t really feel my feet on the ground. It’s exhausting but I really want this to get better,

When Gina and I started dating we watched a Paul Reiser comedy special called 3 1/2 Blocks from Home that was just hilarious. Many of the jokes became a regular part of our shared lexicon and we still quote it to this day. A few years ago I tried to find a copy so that we could watch again but it was apparently long out of print. For some reason I thought about this today and did a search only to find it available on YouTube. We are so excited to watch it again. If you’ve got an hour, give it a watch – it’s well worth your time. It’s linked above or easily found.

We are still watching the Big Bear eagles most every day. The eaglets (Sunny and Gizmo) are growing so quickly and even look like they are starting to spread their wings a bit. When they zoom in we can see that the gray fluff is starting to get some feather blooms. It’s so cool!

I switched from Vivaldi to Arc as my web browser. I liked Vivaldi a lot but I really wanted to use a layout with tabs on the left and I wasn’t pleased with how that worked for me. It also had a lot of things that were extraneous like notes and mail that I wasn’t taking advantage of. Arc is really nice and the way it handles tabs and spaces just feels more natural to me. If you are looking for a chrome replacement (and you should be) Arc is nice.

We finally upgraded Gina’s phone from her old Moto G. She has had a lot of trouble with the camera and the replacement camera apps are sort of rubbish. We’ve been looking to change our service from Ting since they got purchased so we went with GoogleFi and they gave us a Pixel 8a when we switched. Now we have matching phones which makes it nice so we can teach each other how to do stuff with it.

See you tomorrow.
